Hand colored antique botanical copperplate engraving from England in very good condition. We are pleased to offer this print of the Platain-Leaved Crowfoot Flower (Ranunculus Amplexicaulis) from the Curtis Botanical Magazine first published by William Curtis beginning in 1787. This engraving is Plate # 266, dated June 1, 1794. Mr. Curtis was a trained pharmacist living in London, whose greater interest was the study of flora and insects. He maintained a large garden where he grew beautiful exotic plants. Highly collectible, and increasingly hard-to-find in this condition; this botanical engraving still has the original vivid coloration. Guaranteed authentic 207 year-old engraving on rag paper.
