Hand colored antique botanical copperplate engraving from England, in
excellent condition.
We are pleased to offer this print of the Bourbon Aloe (Phylloma Aloiflorum) from the Curtis Botanical Magazine first published by William
Curtis beginning in 1787. This engraving is Plate #1585, dated October 1, 1813, drawn by S. Edwards and engraved by F. Sansom. Mr. Curtis was a
trained pharmacist living in London, whose greater interest was the study
of flora and insects. He maintained a large garden where he grew beautiful exotic plants.
Highly collectible, and increasingly hard-to-find in this condition; this botanical engraving still
has the original vivid coloration. Guaranteed authentic 188 year-old engraving on rag paper.
