This is a rare, original hand-colored print from the 1835 second volume of Sir William Jardine's the Naturalist's Library series on Entomology, a Natural History of Beetles. The second volume was written by James Duncan under the supervision of Sir William Jardine. The drawings contained in this work were made from the collections of James Wilson and a Prof. Jameson. The quality of the drawing and coloring is outstanding. It is printed on fine wove paper, overall size approx. 6 ¾ x 4 ½ . Condition: Good. There is some age toning of the paper consistent with a print of this age. This engraving is Plate 18. Figure 2 is a Stag Beetle. Guaranteed Authentic.
