Dried, pinned, and labeled specimens of many of the most well-known orders.
Good beginner's insect collection of nice quality insects. These are not A-1 quality, some tattering of wings or missing legs and antennae may occur.
Great for your school insect collection projects. Fulfills most of the teacher's requirements. Usually contains around 30+ insects with about 8-9 major families.
Each set is different but may include an assortment of Coleoptera (beetles), Lepidoptera (butterflies & moths), Odonata (dragonflies & damselflies), Orthoptera (grasshoppers & crickets), Diptera (flies & mosquitoes), Neuroptera (lacewings & ant lions), Hemiptera (true bugs), Homoptera (Cicadas, leaf hoppers, aphids), Phasmida (walking sticks), Dermaptera (earwigs), Dictyoptera (mantids and cockroaches) and Hymenoptera (ants, bees & wasps).
Types of insects and quantities will vary, but will be approximately as shown in picture. Most of these are from the southwestern United States (Arizona and California), but many are fairly common elsewhere.
These come in a sturdy re-usable cardboard insect pinning box with foam bottom.
Please be aware that these are a labor-intensive item and take a very long time to catch, pin, mount, dry, identify, label, sort and organize. The price for these is mainly for the labor that is put into them, with secondary pricing based on the value of the individual insects.
***Due to extraordinarily high demand, this item quickly sells out and we are often forced to make this a waiting list item. Should this become waiting list, the only way to be placed on the waiting list is to place your order online. This will "time stamp" your order and place you on the list in sequential order and the collections will be sent out accordingly.
As these are packaged in a precisely certain way to prevent breakage, we cannot accept returns unless the package has been unopened. (Due to the fact that they just cannot ever be re-packaged properly by an inexperienced person). Should any breaks occur during shipping, after the package has been opened, we will replace or refund the particular insect that is broken.
Please let us know the date you need this.
Should item be on a waiting list the following will apply: The only way to be placed on the waiting list is to place your order online. This will "time stamp" your order and place you on the list in sequential order and the collections will be sent out accordingly.
Individual insects may be ordered. We generally have some pinned and labeled "loose" lepidoptera, hemiptera, coleoptera, hymenoptera, diptera, neuroptera, isoptera and a few others on-hand.
For greater value, we also have dried pinned un-labeled and un-labeled unpinned papered insects (Insects such as butterflies, moths etc. placed inside glassine envelopes with wings dolded). Many of these are not labeled. You will have to humidify, spread, pin, identify and label them yourselves. (In other words, you will need to do a little bit of your own homework).
For these "other" insects, you will need to e-mail a list of your desired insects, date you need them, your name, address, phone # etc. We will contact you with a quote and will get your credit card information at that time (don't send that information in e-mail). Minimum purchase for these special order insects is $40.00.
Seasonal item.
YOUR ORDER WILL BE PLACED ON OUR WAITING LIST AND THEY WILL BE SHIPPED OUT AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE ON A FIRST-COME BASIS.
