Hand colored antique botanical copperplate engraving from England in excellent
condition.
We are pleased to offer this print of the
Nine-Pin Heath (Erica Metulaeflora) from the
Curtis Botanical Magazine first published by
William Curtis beginning in 1787. This
engraving is Plate # 612, dated December 1, 1802, drawn by
S. Edwards and engraved by F. Sansom. Mr. Curtis was a trained pharmacist living in London, whose greater interest
was the study of flora and insects. He maintained a large garden where he grew beautiful
exotic plants.
Highly collectible, and increasingly hard-to-find in this condition; this botanical engraving
still has the original vivid coloration. Guaranteed authentic 199 year-old engraving on rag
paper. The original text page will accompany this engraving.
