We are pleased to offer this print of the Great Flowered Lavatera from
the Curtis Botanical Magazine first published by William Curtis beginning in 1787.
This engraving is Plate # 517 with a date of June 1, 1801, one of the earliest Curtis botanical engravings.
Mr. Curtis was a trained pharmacist living in London, whose greater interest
was the study of flora and insects. He maintained a large garden where he grew beautiful
exotic plants.
Highly collectible, and increasingly hard-to-find in this condition; this botanical engraving
still has the original vivid coloration. Guaranteed authentic 203 year-old engraving on rag
paper. The original text page will accompany this engraving.
